A very enjoyable run was. held by tho Wellington Harriers oil Saturday at tho invitation of Messrs. Kowberry Bros., from their residence at Karori. The mustfr being small on nccoiwt of the counter attractions, paper was dispensed with, and (he pack, with F. Eowbcrry as pacemaker, started off for the top of tho ridge overlooking tho city, Ihenco down as for as Wadestown and back through • Wilton's bush, home. Inches only separated' E. O'Ncil and C. Kowberry for first and second places, in the run-in, with T. Johnson third. Afternoon tea was provided, after which a, pleasant hour was spent with music. Isext Saturday tho club championship will be decided at Miramnr. There will also be a sealed handicap in conjunction with it. C. Kowberry is tho present holder of tho championship* Tho Brooklyn Harriers on Saturday decided their annual seven miles President's Handicap at Lower Hntt. Messrs. ].\ A. Wilton and A. A. Oliver laid a flood seven-mile course, and tho starter (Mr. Len. Cooke) dispatched tho runners in a busincss-lik© manner. C. Byrne (7min. 25sec.)'Ied for the-first three miles, where he was caught by >I. G. Wilson, who, in turn, was followed closely by Mansfield. C. Mitrraj, , off scratch mark, made a splendid effort to gain on l;he leaders, but had to .bo.. content with fourth place and fastesf-'riilie' bf'-'SSmini Msec. Results:—H. G. The finals of the Australasian Amateur Championship boxing and wrestling tournament were contested on Saturday night, when there was a large attendance. Tho results were as follow:— Wrestling. Middle-weight-Cotter (New South Wales) defeated Beatti& (Victoria) on points. Heavy-weight.—Shepherd (Queensland) and Jenkins (Victoria) met, but the result was declared a draw. Boxing Contests. Bantam-weight.—Carr (Queensland) defeated Iggulton (Victoria) on points. Feather-weight.—Murphy (Queensland) defeated Pcarce (New South Wales) on points. Light-weight.—Hagerty (New Zealand) defeated Slack (Queensland) on points. Welter-weight—Puio. (Queensland) defeated M'Carthy (New South Wales) on points. Middle-weight.—T. Thompson (Now South Wales) knocked out Quiuu (Queens-land)-■after an extra round. Hoavy-wciglit.—Thompson (New South Wales) defeated M'Quarrie (New Zealand) on points.
LESTER DEFEATS LANG. A TERRIFIC FIGIIT. (Rec. September 10, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, September 10. Lester beat Lang on points in twenty rounds for the heavy-weight championship of Australia. It was a terrific fight, but Lester's better stamina enabled huu to win.
