ENTERTAINMENTS.
THE FIGHT PICTURES. Again Inst evening tho Opera House was well patronised, the occasion beim* th* third exhibition of tho strenuous tattles between Langford and Lang, and Langlord and M'Vea. The films are clear and distinct,and tho details of both contests can bo easily followed. During the course ol the evening other pictures are shown, tho whole performance affording a good evening's amusement. THEATRE ROYAL. The lending attraction at the Theatre hoyal this week is the clover turn put on •by the Piquays. These two artists show in somo quite unusual balancing feats, the most striking beiug a head to head act. Mr. Piquay also executes a remarkable buck dance on his .hands, this feat forming tho conclusion to tho turn. Professor Karles and his troupe of trained animals, including the bucking pony "Fritz," make a hit with patrons mghtlv Harry Sadler also is seen at his best this week. Tho other members of the company, of whom there are quite a number, acquitted themselves capably; HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. A new programme of pictures is billed for His Majesty's Theatre this evening, and among tho collection are some very lino dramatic studies, aiuusing comedies, and the latest budget of tho popular l'athe's Gazette pictures. NEW THEATRE. A stream of people visited tho New Theatre between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. yesterday to witness tho latest products of tho world's kinematograph studios. A complete change will be presented again to-morrow' morning. THE KING'S THEATRE. The current programme of pictures at the King's Theatre will be enhanced this evening by tho inclusion of several uew films—dramatic and comic studies. This ovening's entertainment is being given as a benefit show, under the auspices of the Boys' Institute. BARTON BROS.' CIRCUS. 'A well-conducted circus is always sure .to find favour with a Wellington audience. There is something associated with a circus which recalls one's youth and tho fond illusions which made tho world a wonder-place, and tho exuberant joy of the children as the clown cracks ono of the old chestnuts or does a funny fall in the same old way- is a very pleasant echo of tho past. Barton's Circus is a clean, well-equipped show, ivith a lot of clever peoplo capable of providing a variety of acts in a busiuess-like way. There was a wc-11-attende<l matinee yesterday- afternoon, and a performance last evening. Before tho show started, T.ybell, one of the artists, did what is described as "a daring death-defying slide for lifo" outside tho tent. This consists of hauging on bv [lis teeth to a contrivance which travels on a wire stretched from -the highest tent-polo to the ground- There is to ljo another matinee on Saturday afternoon.at 3 p.m., when children will be admitted for sixpence and adults for a shilling. The season will extend to Saturday night. PUBLIC LIBRARY LECTURE. A lecture on "Heredity," illustrated by lantern slides, will be given by Professor H. li. Kirk, M.A., in the Concert Chamber of tho Town Hall this evening. The lecture will commence at S p.m., and there is no charge for admission. ARTS CLUB. ; Miss Leo will give a lecture at tho Arts Club this evening at 8 o'clock. "THE MOTHERLEY'S LUCK." At the Opera House on Tuesday, September 12, and tho two following nights, Miss M. E. Richmond will produce her dramatic entertainment. "Tho Motherloy's Luck." Miss Richmond has been working assiduously in order to make tho entertainment a success, and it is anticipated that there will be a large audience present. The bov plan will open at the IJresden to-day.
