Dalgcty, and Co., Ltd;, report having held tlioir weekly sale at the Solway (Hastcrton) Yards oil Wedu-aEiiay, whan they offered a .small yarding of both cattlo and sheep, which met a good sale, and the whole ontry • was sold at rates above that of former soles. • Tho shcop entry was a pen of 60 fat, wethers on ac-count-of Mr. T. P. Lett, which brought 2Cs. Bd. Other quotations arc:—Fat Southdown cross wethers, 17s. 4d.; woolly hoggets, lis. fid. The entry of sheep consisted almost .entirely .of hoggets, for which the demand v;an slack, prices showing a decline on- rcccnt rates. Primo heavy bullocks, £11 7a. 6d. to £11 155.; prime bullocks, £10 10s. to £10 17s. 6d.; prime wethers. 225. 6d. to 225. 9d.; coed wothers, 21s. 7d. to 21s. 10d.; light wethers, £1 C*3. 63.; good quality ewes, 19s. Id. to £i os. 4d.medium ewes, 17s. lOd.; fair ewes, 16s. lid.; spring lambs, 14s. 3d. to 15s. to 15s. Bd. ADDINGTON STOCK SALE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Chrlstcliurch, September 6. At Addington live stock market there were moderate entries of stock and a fair attendance. Prime fat cattle were firmer. Store sheep mot with rather a dragging sale, and fat sheep Opened at about Is. per head advance, and then went back to tho same level as last week. Pigs did not meet with such,.a good ; salo as last pock. Store cattle met with a rather better demand, and dairy cows met with only a moderate salo. The yarding of store sheep was a small one of all classes. Though thcro Wan a large attendance of buyers there was a dull demand, and prices were easier except in the case of forward sheep, which maintained late'values. Tory forward wethers made 16s. 3d. to'l7s. Id.; Others, 13s. to 145.; good wether hoggets, }Js. to 12s. 5d.; mixed soxes, 11?. Id. to lis. 6d.; small sorts, Bs. 9d.: medium ewa hoggets, lis. 9d.; small Shropshires, 10s. 9d.; two-tooth ewes in lowcondition, 135.; good, 17s. 9d.; mixed ages, 9s. lid. to 10s. 10d.' The yarding, of tho sheep was much smaller, and not such good average quality as'last week. The supply would have been very small had it not been for consignments from tho North Island ■ and Southland, mostly .fronj the former.. Tho market opened at prices about lj. per head.in advance, but towards tho closo tho ; demand eased' off, and .prices fell back, to last week's." The range- of priccs was:—"Extra prime wethers, 31b.- fid.: prime, 225. 6d.-.to 255.'6 d.; others, 15s. Id. to 19s. . ■ 1 Thoro wore 24 now season's fat lambs offered, and they mido 16s. 3d. to 19s. 9d. There were 276 head of cattle penned, and tho quality was very mixed. Thero was a keen demand for prime quality, animals, hut unfinished were dull of sale, an they, were too dear for graziers, and not in sufficiently- good condition for There' wens a. number of primb North Island cattle offered, and they sold well, steers making £11 63. to £14 2s. 6d., a line of 30 1 averaging nearly £13 per head. The general range of prices was:—Steers, £7 2s. 6d. to. £11 10s.; extra, to £14 175.. 6d.;' heifer?, £5 10s. to £12. 10s.; and cows, £4 175.-6 d. to £15; equal.', to 275. to 335. for prime, to 365. for extra, 255.- to 265. for' medium, and 245. fid. for cow and inferior beet per 1001b. Veal calves made 4s. 6d. .to £2 165., and some extra largo, £5. A medium entry of store cattle consisted mainly of young sorts in low condition and old cows. There was a little improvement in the dennnd, yearlings making 335. to 355.; 15 to 18-months sorts, 555. to 615.: two-yfnr .steers, £4: heifers. £3 18s. 6d.: three-year heifers. £4 55.; and drycows. 255. to £4 ss. Dairy cows sold at £3 10s. and £9 2s. 6d. ' There were larger entries of pigs than last, week, and nil classes of fats, except porkers, were easier. Choppors sold at 455. to £4 55.: largo baconers, 60s. to 755.; suckers, 455. to 555. (coual to s}d. per lb.); large porkers, 365. to 405.; smaller, 3fls. to 343. (equal to 51d. to 53d. per lb.). There was n. good entry of store pigs, and owing to there being 110 outside demand oricci were easier. Large sorts made 17s. 6d. and ",Is. 6d.: smaller, 18s. to 255.; and weaners, 75.. to lis. , BURNSIDE MARKET. (By Telegraph—Press Association:) Dunodin, September 6. ' At Burnside to-day 240 fat cattle were yarded, an extra largo entry, comprising a few pens of extra good sorts, with a large proportion of medium quality. Owing to the heavy yarding price 3 for prime heavy cattle were easier by 15s. per head, and for prime medium weights and medium and inferior quality thero was a declino of from 255. to 30s. Best bullocks, £11 10s. to £12 10?.; one extra heavy bullock, ono of the biggest ever yarded at Burnside, £18 10s.; medium, £8, £9 10a.: inforior, £6 ss. to £7 10s.; best cows and heifers, £6 10s. to £7 10s.; medium, £5 10s. to £6; inferior, £4 10s. to £5. Fat sheep: There was a large yarding. 3046 being penned. The entry consisted chiefly of good quality wethers; Well finished sheep sold at week's prices, but medium and unfinished were from Is. t.o Is. 6d. easier. Prime wethers'. 223. to 2-is. 6d.: extra, to 26«. 9d.: good, 18s. to 205.; medium, 14s. to 16s. 6ft.: best owes, 15s. fid. to 18s.: extra, 235. 9d.; good,. 12s. to 155.; medium. 9s. to lis. Pigs: There was a small yarding. Young pigs were conspicuous by their absence, and tho small yarding of porkers, and baconera met with brisk sale at advanced priccs. Customs duties collected at' the port, of Wellington yesterday amounted to £8396 os. 70.
