FORECAST AND SUMMARY. Present indications are for moderate to strong easterly winds, northward of Hokitika, and Kaikoura, and northerly and westerly breezes elsewhere. The barometer has a falling tendency, and liasy and unsettled conditions are to be expected at times in most parts of the country. Northerly and westerly winds have prevailed, and trale3 in Foveaux Strait on Saturday and Sunday, but the winds are more variable, and moderated to-day. Considerable rain has fallen on the West Coast of the South Island, and fair to cloudy weather, with warmer conditions, have prevailed generally. D. 0. BATES. Meteorological. To-day, however, is cloudy, and the apparent outlook is rain.
