SWIMMING.
VICTORIA COLLEGE CLUB. The annual report of the Victoria Colj lego Swimming Club states that tlio club roll now contains 47 members. Tlio past season was marked by greatly increased activity. Numerous races were held, and, although no records were broken, yet the fields were always good and the finishes close. Two picnics were held at Maori Bank, Upper Hutt. As instructed by the last annual meeting, tho committee eudeavoured to hold a public carnival, but, owing to circumstances, wero -unable to do so. However, tho private carnival, held by tho permission of Sir. J. P. Fivth, at thou ol» liugton College batlis, was in every way successful. It was not thought advisable last season to enter a water-polo team in tho local competitions, but. if any new men should bo offering this season, tlio club might do well to consider tho advisability of entering a team in the junior grade, at all events. Tho prizes won at tho carnival wero presented at a smoka concert held just before tho commence* ment of tho first term. ; Tlio thanks of the club aro due to those who offered trophies for competition at tho carnival, to Professor Laliy and Messrs. Ludwig, Smith, and lurkwood for assistance, to Mr J. P., l'irth for his kindness, and to the officials of sister clubs who helped the club m connection with weekly races at To Aro and Thornclon baths.
