J. A. Millar, regarding tho Department's proposal to reclaim a largo area eastward of tho Railway Wharf for tho purpose of extending tho railway goods yards. Drs. Holmes and narty, of Wellington, arc to attend the Medical Congress to bo held in Sydney this month. Dr. Pitrdy, who will preside over tho naval and military section, leaves for Sydney by the Ulitnaroa on Friday next. Br. Marliu, of Palmorstoii North, is also to attend the congress. Among tho through passengers from Sydney on the Vancouver liner Makura, which arrived at Auckland on Friday, was Dr. Norris, tho Commonwealth Superintendent for Quarantine, who is embarking on a tour of investigation, which for all practical purposes will be world-wide in its scope. Dr. Norris will visit tho chief ports of tho Western Coast of North America in both Canada and tho United States, and, crossing tho Continent, ho will pursue his investigations in tho administrative departments at Washington. After visiting tho New York, Boston, and other gateways 011 the Eastern Const, he will cross to England and the Continent, and later Egypt, India, Burmah, and China.
