THE NEW KNIGHT.
AND HIS SEARCH FOR A CONSTITUENCY. Sir,—lt is a crying shame that Sir John findlay has now decidcd to put his fate before "the people of this country. There is no doubt that on his visit to the Jtother Country (whore ho was never asked to go, by tho way) with Sir Joseph Ward, Bart., that he has been put up to all the tricks of the trade, and will, no doubt, 1m able to tickle 'the ears of the general public (if they aro silly enough to let him) in the forthcoming general election. Really, I could not help smiling when 1 road in Saturday's Dominion that he bad been told that he had not got the confidence of his country. Never has a truer word been spoken. I am afraid that after the general elections are over Sir John I'indlay will find that he will have to retire into private lifebait he ha.s got his title to console liim,—I am, etc., SICK Ol 1 ' TIIEM. Wellington, August 28. Sir,—Tho Minister for Justice undertakes to stand as candidate for a constituency. That is all light as far as it goei. But unless ho stands for ono of the Wellington seats his proposal is a piece of mere impudent jugglery. Tho reason is too obvious to take un your space with explaining. If Sir John Findlay stands for a AVcllington seat and is defeated, he will, at any rale, have done the straight thing.—l am, etc., X.
