OPEN-AIR PREACHING.
Tho campaign carried on in the London parks by atheists and secularists is just now attracting a good deal of attention. In thi< connection it is interestiug to note that preachers like the Bishop of London and l jic I!ev. ]•'. J?. Aleyor and others lind time occasionally to preach in the parks. Last mouth, in llevent's l'ark, after Mr. Meyer had addressed a crowd, the Bishop came up and they exchanged cordial greetings. No church in London (says the "British Weekly") could have had a more earnest and worshipful assembly than that which gathered round tho Bishop. Tho hymns, "The Church's One Foundation," "Fight the Good Fight," and "Stand Up for Jesus," were heartily su.ng and all heads were bowed during the collccts, the Lord's Prayer, and the Benediction. Pipes had mysteriously vanished, though there were working men in every part of the throng. "Tho Bishop here! Let 1110 fret near him," said two pauuterer, throwing away his cigarette, and verv few moved away till the last words had been spoken. It was a mixed gathering in every sense, and included a number of tho Bishop's wealthy admirers. Tho Bishop is a skilled a.nd rauly controversialist, and ho has trained himself also as au evangelistic speaker. His voice carries well, his frank, brotherly manner disarms prejudice, and while avoiding every suspicion of jocularity, he knows how to hold the attention of his hearers'. Ho touched the keynote of the address by a reference to the Coronation servics in which he had taken part at the Abbey.
