Messrs. Dalgcty and Company, Ltd., report:—At our Jlarton sale on Tuesday we had a very Rood yarding of both sheen and cattle, which bo!<1 at tho following prices:—Oull ewes, 4s. 3d. to ss. Id.; cull hoggets, 6s. 6tl. to Bs. 7d.; small wether hoKECts, to 11!..; medium wether hoggets. 12s. to 12s. 2d.;. small ewo hoggets, to 1?&. 3d.;' mixed ewe hoggets, 135.; better class ewe lioggbts, to lis. 5d.; fat. and forward ewes, to 125.; empty cows, £2 15s. to £3; wcaner steers, £2 Ds. 6d. to £3; weanci' steers .£2 Os. 6d.; 18-month» steers, to £3 15a.; 25 to 3-vcar steers. .£5 7s. 6d.; dairy cows, to £5 IDs. A line of 95 20-months steers, sold in conjunction with Mossrs. Abraham and Williams. Ltd.. realised £4. Jlessr?. Dalgety and .Co. state:—We have to report having held a sale of Holstein cattle on Wednesday, on accojtnt of' Mr. A. .J. Gallichan, Tiakitahuna. The cattle were rather low in condition, and, on thai account bidding was not particularly keen. Two-year licifers realised 13, 14, 15 to 231 guineas; cows. 19 to 30 guineas; yearling bulls, 18. to 28 guineas.
AUCKLAND STOCK SALES] . (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, August 31. Messrs'. Dalgoty and Co.. Ltd., report having hold their fortnightly fat stock sale at Westfield on Wednesday. In beef there was a fairly large yarding. At the commencement of the sale prices were lower than was tho case at late sales, but they improved as tho sale wont on, and last/week's values were nearly niainta.incd. Choice pens of extra prime ox fetched 255. to 28s. nor tOOlb.. and ordinary primo ox, 235. to 245. 6d. Coiv and heifer beef sold at criual to 225. to 255. per 1001b. , Veal: A large yarding, and prices wore much the same as last week.
Heavy calves sold at from £2 to Xo 55.; choice sucker.-, 50:-. to. : others. 3s. to 20s. jMut.ton: A larsre yarding came forward, and prh-c- were about 2?. per head lower than was the ease last week, the demand heir.fr very limited. Extra heavy well-finished wethers sold at £2s. 6d. to 265.; others, 15s. to 205.: heavy ewes, 16s. to 215.; others, 12s. 6d. to ISs. Lambs: KoSßOta sold at 10s. 9d. to 155.; spritis: lambs, 12s. to 225.; pork choppers, £2 15s. to £3 1C:\; porkers, £1 Bs. to £2 2s. , Tile New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report:—At the Western Yards on Thursday last we held our usual weekly sale of dairy and store rattle. There was ;l good yardintr,- and prices were the fame as late rmotations. Best, dairy cows and heifers sold at from £7 ss. to £9 10s.: others, £1 10s. to £6 55.: empty cows. £2 8:;. to £3 17s. fid.; 18-months heifers. £3 15:'.: calves 20s. ti 335. At. the Albert Yards on Friday horses were yarded in the usual numbers, and sold at latest rates'. Heavy draughta fold al from £2!> to £44 lCs.; medium draughts, £18; points and weeds, £1 ss. upwards. At the l'ukekohe Yard.--, on Monday, we held a- special horse sale. The advertised number came- forward, and competition was keen throughout. Heavy draught horses sold at from £25 to £<o; medium draughts, £17 10s. to £30; aged and worn draughts, £5 to .{!l8; spring cart horses, £18 to £27 Ifs.; light harness sorts, £6 10: v to £22; liaol;?, £12 to £22; cobs and ponies, £5 to £16; weeds, from 10s. upwards;; sulky and harness, £12 10s. Out of 140 liorsos_ yarded, 115 were sold. At the Western Yards on Wednesday cattle were yarded in full numbers, and, with few exceptions, the 'quality was excellent, first quality ox selling up to 30s. per ICOlb., and others from 2oa. to 275. 6d.; c-ow lieifer beef, 225. to 245. Steers said at from £7 toi £14 7s. 6a.; cows and heifers, £4 10s. to £8 17s. A dTaftof 24 steors from Messrs. Reid Brothers (Wairanga) averaged £12 17s. 6d. Calves were yarded in large numbers, and again sold at high rates. Heavy vealers sold at from £3 to £3 10s.; medium weights at. from £2 2s. to £3; others. 20s. to 365. Smaller sorts and fresh dropped, 2s. to las. There was a large yardins of sheep, and -prices were Is. to 2s. per head lower than last week. Best wethers sold to 265.: others.- 20s. to 245.; inferior fatted, lSs. 6d. to 19s. 6d.; ewes, 13s. to 19s. 9d. Hoggets were yarded in_ less, numbers than usual, and advanced in price, and sola at from 12s. 6d. -to 16s. Pigs were yarded in small numbers, and sold at high rates.
