Government was bombarded with questions regarding tho election of the Speaker and tho removal of members . from the House. Ono inquirer was informed that the incident was closcd. Mr. Wade's motion claims that the Government does not pos-ess the confidence of tho House, as,.'owing, to the position of parties, this House is unworkable, and this constitutes a grave danger to the State. Mr. Beeby, Ministef for Education and Labour, replying, admitted that, owing to tho constitution of the House, a general election was necessary, but added that it must be when the new electoral rolls h-ic/ been prepared, and in the early summer, not in tho middle of winter. All tnat they asked was the co-operation of members in passing a number of rion-conteji-tious matters, getting the finances on a proper basis, and completing the electoral law. Tliey could then leave the matter in the hands of the electorates. The debate was adjourned. Mr. W. J. Trickett has been re-elected Chairman of Committees of the Legislative Council. ' Tho Attorney-General (Mr. Holnian), addressing a meeting, declared that there was not tho slightest doubt' there would be a general election before tho end of jthe year. OFFICIAL NOTES QUESTIONED. (Rec. September 1, 1.10 a.m.) Sydney, August 31. In the Legislative Assembly to-night members again questioned tho notes and proceedings of Parliament. The Speaker, Mr. Willis, intimated that he appr.oved tho notes, which are in conflict with the Hansard report.
