Tho undermentioned clergymen have consented to act as commissioners in lingland and Ireland for the Anglican Bishop of Wellington (Dr. Sprott),:—The I!ev. W. H. Barnes, D.D., Hulsean Professor of Divinity, Cambridge; tho Rev. John Still, M.A., Honorary Canon of Norwich and licctor of Hethersett, near Norwich; the Rev. Harold Anson, M.A.i Rector of Birch-in-llusholme, Manchester; the Rov. R, AV. Seaver, M.A., 8.D., Rector of St. John's, Mabne, Belfast. Tho Bishop has appointed the Rev. A. 0. AVilliams (superintendent of the Maori Mission in tho diocese) to be his examining chaplain for Maori candidates for ordination. Mr. H. J. H. Okoy, M.P. for Taranaki, has been invalided homo with an attack of pneumonia. Mr. AV. D. S. Macdonald, M.P. for Bay of Plenty, who is suffering from appendicitis, was slightly better yesterday. On inquiry last night at the private hospital, where lie is an inmate, it was learnt that he is progressing as well as can bo expected. It is now thought that an operation may not bo necessary. Tlvo Hon. C. Louisson, M.L.C., Canterbury, has l>ecn granted four weeks' leave of absence from tho Legislative Council on account of ill-health. A Press Association message from Sydney states that Mr. Cecil I'. Adams iias been appointed secretary of the Co-opera-tive Assurance Company of Australasia. An old AVellingtou resident in (lie person of Mr. Thomas Foley, of Muricai, died at his residence, County lioad, Lastbourne, on Wednesday night. Deceased, who was tile head of the firm of Tlios. Foley and Sons, plasterers, c-ame out from the Old Country as a young man and established himself in Wellington, where he has lived ever since. A few years ago he moved across the harbour 'to Fastbourne for the bonclit of his health, and did valuable work as oiro of tho original members of I lie Kastbournc Borough Council, on which body jio sat until the last election, when he retired from municipal politics. Mr. Foley was a. prominent; and papular member of the Foresters' Friendly Society. Tho deceased, who was fill years of age, leaves a widow, two daughters, and four sous.
