The second read.ng of tho AuckLnd Grammar school Sites Bill, introdnceti l)y the Hon. G. Fowlds, gave northern members an opportunity oi painting a bright future for that institution, and ol saying iomcthing about its distinguished past, but did nothing to dissipate tno slocpy atmosphere. 'lho Education Reserves Amendment Bill proved equally barren of interesting discussion. Both Bills wero read a s.cond time on tho voices. Tho latter'part of the sitting was devoted to a final consideiatlon, in Committee, of the Patants, Designs, and Trade Marks Bill, a measure introduced by the Hon. J. A. Millar. The Minister brought down a clause providing for the revocation of patents not worked in this country. Mr. James Allen and other members' conducted a lengthy Rebate with tho Minister as to tho detail provisions of his amendment, but Mr. Millar eventually had his way, and carried the new clause as introduced. The Bill was then read a third time and passed. On tho motion of the Hon. J. A. Millar, tho House adjourned, at the end of the afternoon sitting, until Tuesday, the evening sitting being cut out in order to give Ministers and members an opportunity of welcoming Sir Joseph Ward upon his return.
