NEW ZEALAND UNION. A meeting of tho executive of the NewZealand Buali.v Uuion was held last night, Mr. X. Galbi-aith presidine. There were also present Dr. P. F. Jl'Evcdy, Messrs. R. M. Isaac*-, H. Kelly, A. Laureuson, M. J. Crombio, J. Laughtmi, aad J. D. Avery, secretary. Notice of the suspension of A. JI Donald was received from the Otaso Rugby Union.—The, suspension was made general. A large number of player?, who were reported to have joined the Northern Unio'i rank?, having failed to show cause wliv they should not he expelled, wore, dei'ined to be. guilty of professionalism, and were expelled from the Rugby ranks.
INTER-COLLEGE TOURNAMENT. The annual intcr-co-Uegc Hussby football tournament will commence at Christcbnrrh to-morrow, when the wellinst™ College team will try conclusions with Christ's College. On Monday next /Wellington will play Wanganui, and on Wednesday Christ's College will meet Wamranui.' The Wellington College team which is in charge of Mr. T- Brodie. consists of. the following players:.— bnaw, Bailov, Stang, Strack, Harris, Elhs, Stainton, Luke. Childs. Neilson. Board y), Hanson, Freeth, Henderson, and iiux. CIVIL SERVICE.' •U a meeting of delegates held last evening, it was decided to begin tho annual tournament matches on 'September 16. Sis teams are competing, with a probable seventh team. , The Christchurch Civil Service Association wrote asking that a team representing the Wellington Cml Service should play a niatch in Chnstchurch at a date to bo arranged. The matter is receiving consideration. HeisTS. Hales, Thompson, and Harris, were appointed members of the Management "Committee. THE SOCIAL SIDE. The Nelson College Rugby football team is to be entertained by the- Wellington branch of the Nelson College. Old Boys Association at Godber's rooms this evening, at 6 p.m. Members of the Wellington representative Rugby team are requested to- nwet tho Taranaki team at the New Zealander Hotel at 7.30 this evening. AUCKLAND TOURING DATES. (By Telecraph.— Press Association.) ' Auckland, August 24. The Auckland Rugby Union decided the itinerary of the southern tour of its representativES this evening. The team will leave Auckland on August 25, arriving in Christchurch on August 31. Canterbury will be played on September 2, and the team will leave Christchurch for Duncdiu on.September i, playing Otago on September 6. Dunedin will be left on the- morning of September 7, and Wellington reached on September 8. The Wellington team will bo played on September 9, and the Aucklandcrs will depart from tho Empire City en route for New Plymouth on September 11. The last, match of the-tour will be played against Taranaki on September It, and the.team leaves for homo by the Rarawa on tbs samo evening. They will reach Auckland, via. Onehtmga, on 'September 15, and play :ho second Ilanfiirly Shield' ' niatch hero against Poverty Bay on September IG. Mr . JI. J. ShcaJian was appointed manager of the team,. .R. . Maget. will act as captain, and W. Cunningham as vice-captain. The Selection Committee will consist of the above-mentioned officials and T. Wilkes. W. Geddcs notified the selectors yesterday that he is unable to go south, and 0. Wolfgramm was appointed in his place. THE REFEREES' STRIKE.
Auckland, August 24. The Auckland Rugby Union decided tonight in regard to tho.referees' strike, to luako their own .appointments in future. Sufficient referees aro available for tho remaining club-matches.
