WELSH RIOTS.
DISTURBANCES RENEWED. MANY CONFLICTS WITH THE POLICE. (Rec. August 23, 9.5 p.m.) London, August 23. Rioting lias been renewqd at Ebbwvale, near Merthyr-Tydvil, and on a largo scale. The' Riot Act "was read, and the military cleared the. street with a bayonet charge. Oao of the soldiers was badly injured. Ten thousand pwsons assembled at Cwiij in Monmouthshire, n,Tid did great damage. The military were summoned, but the rioting continued until late into tho night. It was eventually quelled. Mobs attacked tlio church and other buildings at Brynmnur, in Brochnockshire. Serious conflicts with the constables took place, the inob throwing stones and bottles at the police. Tho arrival of two bodies of cavalry restored partial quietude. Jews Flee for Safety. Hundreds of Jews are quitting Tredegnr and Ebbwvale by every train, leaving their homes undefended and uncared for. The .Tews are accused of having made a monopoly of several classes of trade, such as furnishing, clothing, nnd jewellery, and of compelling their tenants to olftnin furniture from them on tJie hiro system. Ed the railings from a private residence, but u stampede took place when the military appeared. A number of women were roughly handled, and looters drove women from their homes. A woman lying ill was terrified, and ran out, shrieking, for safety. The crowd then seized her bed and threw it into tlio street. Many of tlio rioters we.ro injured in various localities, and numerous arrests have been made.
