KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
4 An ordinary meeting of tho Karori BorQUgji, Council was held at the Council Chambers;' Karori, last evening. Present': The Mayor (Mr. C. Cathie), and Councillors Hildrct'h, Braduock, Frost, Hamilton, Stauden, Burn, Anderson, aud Nini--1110. ' A communication (previously published) was received from the Commandant of the New Zealand Forces asking the council to assist in training the territorials and senior cadets by placing at the disposal of tho Defence Department any public halls owned by them. It was resolved to reply' stating that tho council itself had no buildings to offer, but also to refer the writer to the local School Committee.
A circular letter was received from tha Hospital and Charitable Aid Board with reference to the appointment of sanitary inspectors. The letter asked if the council would contribute to tho cost incurred on a proportional basis, the amount for Karori being £1 10s. After a short discussion it was ■ resolved, on the motion of Councillor' Burn, that tho letter bo received. The mover expressed the opinion that their own building inspector was quite competent to report on insanitary buildings, etc. It was decided, on the recommendation of the AVorks Committee, to purchase 501b. of grass seed for the Recreation Ground. Tho secretary of the Karori'School Committeo asked if the council had any objection to the removal of trees from the council's property on tho eastern side of Donald Street. It had been found that the tfe-is interfered with the access of light to the school. It was deoided to accede to the request. Tho following recommendations of tho Tramway Conimitteo wero adopted:—(l) That on Saturdays and Sundays the hom> ly service between the Council Chambers and tho Park bo continued up to 2 p.m. instead of only till noon as at present. (,'J.) That the car leaving tho park at 7.45 a.m. be discontinued. (3) That inquiries be ■made from the city electrical engineer as to the possibility of a half-hourly servico between the Botanical Gardens and the Borough Chambers between 9 a.m. and 1.30 p.m.i instead of a twenty-minutes' servico as at present; (4) That it be a recommendation that a deputation consisting of the Tramway Committee wait upon tho city electrical engineer and confer with him on matters mentioned at the last meeting of the council.
