JEWS' SHOPS LOOTED.
TREDEGARROUGHS FIGHT POLICE. .RIOT ACT HEAD. (Eec. August 22, 10.53 p.m.) London, August 22. Further anti-Jewish riots have taken place at Tredegar, in Monmouthshire. Uangs of roughs ..threw stones and bottles at the police, and- a fierce fight followed. . Many of the rioters were injured by batoa-, charges by the constables, and a dozen were taken to the hospital. The Riot Act was read. Soldiers with fixed bayonets marched through the principal thoroughfares, and the rioters took'retuga in side streets, from, which they stoned the military. Many left the town and crossed the mountain into Ebbwvale. Here several largo Jewish shops were wrecked and looted. ■ '' ' On the military arriving the plunderers hurriedly quitted the shops. , The soldiers and polico assembled outside the police-station, and the Riot Act was read. ..,.-. ~ . , The police, and military then charged and cleared the • streets. Another section of tho same gang looted nearly every shop in Rhymney, a few miles south-west of Tredegar.
Order was finally restored everywhere,
