A special conference of tho Folitical Labour League bas met for the purpose of considering tiro attitude of members who voted against, or abstained from voting, on the Federal Referendum, and also to discuss the question of the reconstruction of the conferences with a view to reducing the number of delegates. The Labour Conference sat late, and the proceedings were once ■ or twice closely approaching a 'scene. The president on one occasion ordereu Mr W. 51. Hughes, Commonwealth At-torney-General,' and several of the Stato Ministers off the platform... Several motions-one for expelling offending members from, the party, and others in favour of censuring or uthc;wise dealing with them-rwere discussed. Eventually the censure proposal was negatived by a large majority. A resolution was then moved by Mr. J. C- Watson (formerly Prime Minis! or), and carried by a four-fifths majority, that in order to ensure the solidarity of 'the party, and to prevent the recurrence of the unsatisfactory position in| connection with the recent Federal referenda, the Conference directs that iii future the executive shall refuse to endorse as a Labour candidate any person who henceforth at a referendum opposes, or fails, to'support, the proposals submitted to the people by the Federal or • State Labour parties, provided that such proposals have first been endorsed by an inter-State or New South Wales'conference.
