The Reform party will bo represented '»• an accredited candidate in tho sovenly-six contests which will be wag<4 in tlio general elections at tho end of tlio year. In almost all tho electorates, arrangements liavo been made for a. vigorous campaign, and within a short time the party s banner will bo hoisted in every constituency in the country. Tho prospects of success aro certainly bright. "The Government was never regarded by the people with less favour than it is at the prevent time," said Mr. K. R. Martin, the Opposition organiser, when interviewee! last night. "Supp'-t----ers of the Government who are as a ruin enthusiastic in their advocacy of tho ruling party's claims appear to be entirely lacking in enthusiasm; and it is very difficult to find anyone who may bo dcscrtbed as an enthusiastic supporter of tlio Government. The position was explained to me by a Wellington citizen who lias always been regarded as a very loyal follower of the Government." "Vou have tile ball at your feet," ho declared. "Never in the last twenty years have the Opposition chances been brighter." It is at present uncertain who will bo the Reform party's candidates for the following seats:—Auckland Central, Auckland East, Ohinomuri, Waikoto, G.isIxji'iie, Wangamii, llutt, Westland, Avon, Riccarton, Christchiu'cli South, Lyttelton, Timarn, Chalmers, Dunedin South, Wallace, and Invercargill. SEATS AND CANDIDATES. Tile following will be the candidates of tho Reform Party for the seats named:. Bay of Islands.—.Mr. G. Wilkinson, chairman of tho Hongouui County Council, Marsdon—Mr, P. Slander, tho present member. Kaipara.—Either Mr. Field, solicitor, of Dargavillo, or Mr. A. E. Harding, farmer, at Mangawai. At tlie election of 1908, Mr. Harding opposed Mr. .T. Stallworthy, who now represents tho district, and was do. feated by only 28! i votes. Waitcmata.—Mi. L. R. Phillipps, tho present member, and a supporter of tho Opposition, will not contest the scat again. It is not unlikely that Mr. 33. W. Alison, who preceded Mr. Phillipps, will bo tlio accredited party candidate. Grey Lynn.—Mr. G. W. Murray, Mayor of Grey I.ynn, and a member of the Auckland Education Board. Eden,—Mr. John Bollard, tlio siiting member. Parnoll.—Mr. E. G. B. Moss, who -was defeated by Mr. F. I,awry at tho last election by only 219 votes. Manukau.—Mr. F. W. Lang, tho sitting member. Auckland West,—Probably Mr. Button, formerly a Judge of the. Supreme Court, and representative in Parliament of Auckland City, who is now a member of a legal lirm in Auckland city. Raglan.—Mr. R. F. Bollard, a son of Mr. J. Bollard, Ml'., who is a farmer in tho Waikato. Franklin.—Mr. W. F. Massey, Loader of tho Opposition. Thames.—Mr. Joseph Clark will probably be Mr. Tl. n. Taylor's opponent. Ta'uranga,—Mr. W. H. Herries, tho sitting member. Bay of Plenty,—Air. C. A. Delautour, a son of a former member of tho House of Representatives, will probably represent tho pnrty iu the contest for this seat. Hawke's Bay,—Mr. 11. M. .Canipbell, a young farmer in tlio province vrill enjrago in his tirst political campaign. Napier — Mr. G. Nelson, the proprietor of • a meat-preserving business. Waipawa.—Mr. G. Hunter, who polled only fifty votes fewer than Mr. Hall at tho 1008 elections, wilt again meet him in tliig year's contest, Mr. Hunter sat in tho Parliament of 1897-99. Pahiatua,—Mr. J. 11. Escott, a well known settler, and president of tho Paliiatua Farmers' Union. Mastcrton.—Either Mr. G. Sykes, secretary of tho Agricultural and Pastoral Associution( or Sir. A. H. Herbert, Mayor of liketahuna, neither of whom has previously been a candidate for Parliament, Wairarapa.—Mr. W. C. Buchanan, tho sitting member. Taumarunui,—Mr. J. Taylor, solicitor, and a memlxr of tlio Christcliurch City Council. Chrislcluirch North.—Mr. J. D. Hall, who contested the seat against Afr. L. AL Isil't at tlio reeent by-election. Ellcsmere.—Air.
