At the Supreme Court Mo-day John Lionel Melva, alias John Lindon Turnbull,' alias John Melville, who was undefended, pleaded guilty to n tunes of nine charges of false pretences committed at Auckland, Xew Plymouth, Eltham, and \Vav«Tley during the current year. His Honoui' deferred senter.cS. Edward Kelly, alias Xed Kelly, admitted a charge of breaking and entering a dwellinghouso at Taumarunui, and stealing a shirt and .£2 10s. in moiny. Accused had already served three months in gaol awaiting trial, and was sentenced to a further three months' imprisonment. A young man named AYilliam John Guy, 22 vears of age, who pleaded guilty to a charge of having committed perjury as a witness in a case heard at the Magistrate's Court on April 1 (by denying familiarity with a young woman, who was the complainant in an affiliation casv) was fined ,£2O.
