THE WELLINGTON CENTRE. At the Wellington Bowling Club's pavilicn last evening the AVeilington Bowling Centre held its annual meeting, .Mr. T. Bnsh presiding. Tlio report and balance-sheet were adopted. , | Mr. W. J. Hueston was reflected chairman, Mr. T. 'J'. Churchward secretary (re-elected), and Mr. J. W. ICinniburg hon. auditor. During the ccurso of the evening a lengthy discussion ensued over the proposed alteration of the rules ill regard to pennant matches. Tlio new idea is that thero be A and B Pennants, and some of the delegates, acting under instructions from their clubs, spoke strongly against the proposed change. The opinion held generally was that too much timo was take.n up with pennant matches, and it was suggested that, if the proposal were carried, several of the younger and smaller clubs would not enter teams in the competition. The opinion was also hold that ths various clubs would experience difficulty in selecting teams, and the present discontent existing among some, of tho suburban clubs would becomc greater. Mr. Marquis (Kelburne) submitted . a scheme which, lie said, had worked very well in Canterbury. The southern centra had done away with, the A and B matches and had substituted what were called "red and white" pennant matches. The new idea had found favour with delegates, and it was suggested that some of the A and B rules should be embodied in tiesc red and white oues. Finally, llr. V. Dimock movt-d:—"That rales relating to 'red and white' pennants be drawn up by a sub-committee consisting of Messrs. Bush, Churchward, and Marquis, and bo submitted to (ho various clubs affiliated to the centre." An Amendment—"That the rules relating to the A and B Pennants and also thoso of tho 'red and white' pennants be submitted to each affiliated club for discussion before tho matches for the coming season be fixed"—was lost. It was decided that the drawing of matches be postponed for three..weeks, in order to allow clubs to discuss tho new proposals. The centre tournament is to be held on Monday and Tuesday, January 1 and 2. The fallowing were elected a Postponement Committee:—Messrs. T. Bush, W. J. Hueston, and A. Jillmston.
