A ROMAN CATHOLIC FEDERATION.
WORLD-WIDE MOVEMENT. Tho-monthly meeting of the Westminster' Federation Council , was held on July 3 in tho Cathedral Hall, Mr. Mara read u letter from the National Secretary of the American Fod<n\ition of Catholic Societies, in which was advocated the formation of a World's Fed. erntion. Such a movement, stated the writer, would be in liuo with Fatlw Dow. ling's ,- International Catholic. Defence League, and ho believed the work which' lather Dowling proposed to do- was in line with the work which the Federations i in tho different countries of the world were doing. If un International, Bond of Union could bo formed amongst the exi-stinp Federations of (lie, world an International Congress conld lie held within tho next few years in the perfecting of such an organisation, which would result in tho accomplishing of much good for tho Catholic cause. He did not favour, the formation of separate organisation ' for the defence work, believing that the . existing Federations were tho ones to foster it. In conclusion the writer invited tho Federation to express its views on a proposed -World Federation of Catholic Societies. The. suggestion was favourably received, and it was decided to submit the letter' to the Archbishop for .approval.
