Walter Francis Warby, warehouseman! applied for his discliargo from bank' rtipley at the Supreme Court to-day, Mr. Justice Ed iva ids, interrupting oouiiiol, who was urging reasons in support of the application, said ho knew the whole case from end (o end, and had not (he slightest idea of granting the discharge. Mr. Earl, solicitor, mentioned (hat Iho estate was being satisfactorily wound up. As far as lie could gather none of the creditors were opposing the discharge. He mentioned one creditor in particular. The Judge said: I don't care a straw for I hat. Ho may bo squared for all I , know. Mr. Karl assured his Honour that there had btwn uothiiiK of the. kind, to hia knowledge. Finally, the Judge said ho would not grant the discharge until persuaded that his present view of bankrupt's conduct, founded on the kiso before tlio Court of" Appeal, was erroneous. The application was allowed to stand over for ono week. THE KELLY TRAGEDY. SENSATIONAL STATEMENT. Auckland, August 17. At the Coroner's inquest on' Mrs. Kelly, who was burned to death in a tiro •in Upper Queeu Street, Herbert Collier, residing next door, stated that ho heard a. man and a woman in limited argument in the yard of Kelly's premises. Ho concluded that the woman ran inside and locked the. door, for ho distinctly heard the woman say, "If you killed .your . father, you won't kill m<i.". This "was repeated several times. Witness did mot know who wore speaking, only that they were ;i man and a woman. He foil asleep nt 5 o'clock, and two hours later heard of :he lire, and of the nrrest of Andrew, Kelly ou a charge of drunkenness. Harry Thompson deposed to finding Andrew Kelly in a dazed condition wlitini the lire.was discovered'. Kelly told him ' nobody else, wns in the house. The jury returned an open verdict. DIVORCE. . Auckland, August 18. A sitting in divorce jurisdiction was held at the Auckland Supremo Court by Mr. .Tustico Edwards to-day, when four actions were disposed of. Frederick Richard Anstico sued for the. dissolution of his marriage with Florence Matilda Anstico on the ground of desertion four years .ago. The parties wcro married at Wellington in 1905, and two years later they were living at Gcraldiuc. A decree nisi was granted. Decrees nisi were also granted in the cases of Koso Amelia Grcenhaigh v. Blenheim, August 18. A fire broko out in the centre of tlila town, iu the grocery storo of Schaucr' and Neville. The top story was gutted,, and. tho stock in,- the rooms , below mostly damaged .by water. The brigado did good work, and saved tho block, working esiidly for two hours.
