Carmody) to the position of Inspector of Awards at- Wellington, the Wansanui Master GrocoTs' Association has passed a resolution expressing regret at Mr. Carmody's departure. In tho course of a discussion on tho Empowerks* Bill at tho Harbour Board meeting on Wednesday night, Mr. W. .1. Poison, one of the Wanganui County members, challenged the chairman (Mr. Murray) to resign and contest the county scat with the challenger. Questioned nn tho matter, Mr. Murray 6tates that if Mr. Poison is ■ anxious for a contest no doubt he will be willing to contest the Waitotara County seat with him. This would bo as much to the noint as for him to carry a contest into Mr. Poison's territory.
