A SUBURBAN RAILWAY INJUSTICE.
Sir,—Would you kindly allow me space to bring before the, notice of the working class'ln Wellington tho unreasonable attitude of the Minister for Railways in reJU/>ing.„to, grant suburban...arpa.,rates to .seaside resorts on the Tila'n'awatu "line? Apart frfim the harbour bays, tho seaside resorts, Faremnta, Tlimiilcrton, and Paokakariki are the only ones, and it .is monstrous to think that the Minister is able to continue his refusals to grant us what has been granted to all other main centres. The working classes have a special interest in the, seaside resorts T name, but we are the only .class in Wellington not getting the suburban area rates extended to our playgrounds. The rich friends of the Government are carried out to Trentham to golf any day of the week at suburban rates, but we can't get a jaunt out to Paremata and back on Wednesday without paying 50.'per cecit., riiore than the rate pai-l by the rich .Rolfi'st...There is no other centre in the whole of New, Zealand getting such treatment, and I' am sure there is no other centrt oonte'nt to be denied their just rights for so long and take no action. What would Auckland do? Wake up, .Wednesday half-holiday people, and get our holiday resorts recognised in tho same way as the rich. golfist using suburban area rate, which is about half-price. The Minister's friends aro abl(. to go to the races at Trentham at half-prices, but we arc the only section of the community in New Zealand who cannot take our wives to the seaside on Wednesday at suburban area rates.' It is time this was altered.— I am, etc., CITY WORKER,
