MASTERTON NOTES.
(From Oar Special Correspondent,) m , Master-ion, August IG. Iho carpenters, and joiners of tho Wellington country districts are asking for a new award. At present the minimum award is Is. .3d. per hour. T119., employees arc now asking for Is. Go. per'hour, and 2s. per day extra when working in the country. A coiil'or-Mco between maslcrs and employees is to bo held in Maslorton on Monday next. ' The Wellington Racing Club is making a contribution of £15 15s. towards the steeplechase meeting which is to be held at the oid of this month by the Wairarapa Hunt Club.
I ho fifth lecture in connection with the Masterton division of the St. John Ambulance was given by Dr. Cowio last evening.
Of a sum of .£6115 allocated for expenditure in the Masterion Borough for the current year, the sum of ,C 2115 12s. 2d. hod been expended on July fll.
