"A DANGEROUS MAN."

ME. FISHER ON MR, STEAD. Bj TelccraDli-l'ress lUsociatlon-Copyriirht Melbourne, August 15. The Prime Minister, Mr. Fisher, referring to the report in the "Review of Reviews" of his interview with Mr. W. T. Stead, said he took exception to tho phrase "loose association of dependencies." What he did say was, "close association of dependencies." Whether Mr. Stead mistook the word, , or used it for his own-purpose; he did not know, but he regarded Mr. Stead as a dangerous man. A second phrase to which Mr. Fisher took exception was that in relation to' /'hauling down the flag." That was entiroly an emanation from Mr. Stead. Mr. Fisher admitted receiving a proof of the interview from Mr. Stead, but owing to pressure of business ho had to leaxe the work of attending to such things in his secretaries' hands. LOJJDON COIMENT. London, August 14. The "Pall Mall Gazette" states that Mr. Fisher's remarks at Melbourne, as cabled, are as sound as anyone need desire. His defence of tho Japanese Alliance is particularly iniportaut.
