It is pointed out that the shipowners forced a lock-out, and tho railway companies have not shown any willingness to negotiate. Tho authorifos are dispatching military foroes to tho city.

Tho Transport Federation is determined to stand firm and cease work at midnight.

There have been two skirmishes between rioters and the police, but the military quelled the trouble.

The mob barricaded Christian Street, and placed wire entanglements in the side streets. .

The offices of the Shipping Federation have ken burned, and incendiarism is suspected.

The strikers cut the fire hoses, but the police dispersed them after a sharp conflict.

A hundred men and women have received sentences of imprisonmeint, ranging up to three months, in - connection with Sunday's riot. j.

Seven thousand dockers participated in riots at Birkcohead. One policeman was seriously injured.
