fFrom Our Special Corrcsoondent.) Palmerston, August 9. At the monthly meeting of tho Terrace End School Committee last night (Mr. R. Gardner in the chair), tho headmaster reported the roll number as 417, with averago attendance 372. It was added that measles and other sickness was keeping file averago down. Messrs. J. A. Nash, Gardner, and Lewis wore appointed to represent the committee at the conference of School Committees to be held shortly, to consider the question of continuance classes at the Technical School. A Taylor Memorial Fund list was handed to tho headmaster. It was resolved to eclobrat© Arbor Day on August 1G by planting trees in tho schoolgrounds. Messrs. Zortt and Lewis were appointed visitors for tho ensuing mouth, and _ were requested to report to next meeting on tho stato of tho schoolgrounds and the. need for grading same,'as recommended by tha headmaster.

Messrs. G. A. Precco and Co., in conjunction with Messrs. Abraham and .Williams, have sold tho following further sections in Mr. A. llardings Siberia Estate:—To Mr. J. Henley, Sections 3'and 4, 42 acres each, at £37 per acre; Section. 10, 47 acres, at £23; to Mr. Jessi? Hills, Section 5, 49 acres,. at £39; to Mr. .T. Fraser, as agent, 255 acres, at £13 10s, j to samo buyer, 823 acres, at £15. - Things will be fairly lively on the Palmerston Showgrounds, on Saturday. The Territorial camp, which has been in progress there all the week, will bo breaking up, while football and hockey matches will bo played there. Among the football matches will br> one for tho Abraham Cup, while ■ a: ■representative hockey match between th-> Feilding SubUnion and Manawatu, a" the annual' contest between the Pa'.r.'er'on and Mastcrton Pest and Telegraph hockey teams will bo played. The semi-fine's for the Randicap Hockey Cup were played to-day. • Old Boyn wore successful in beating Palmerston B, and the junior representatives de-' feated Methodists. The Methodist clubs of tho Wellington Province arc arranging a tournament in Paimerslon at lb" end of (he month. Already the local le.aiu, Wenley (Wellington), and. T.Y.M.I. (Wangamii) have entered, and it is expected ;hat Mastnrtou will also send a team.
