HOCKEY.

"WEDNESDAY ASSOCIATION. Only two hockey games were played yesterday afternoon, viz.: Karori v. Hereawa, and Pakoha v. Hui Mai. Both games were played at Karori. The Post and Telegraph defaulted to Petone A. Result of games:—Karori, 3; Hereawa, 1. Pakeha, 4 j Hui Mai, 2.

Karori v. Hereawa. Karori were first to get going, and Lowe, by a fine piece of ploy, notched the first goal. Hereawa, for a time, were on the defensive, till Caterer, getting tho ball, carried it down the field, and scored. Karori came away from tho "bully-off," and F. Spiers found the net, while, just before half-time, Lowe again scored for Karori. The second spell was of a very even nature, play travelling from-one end of the ground'to the other, but without any of tho players finding tho net. Karori thus won by 3 goals to 1. Mr. G. Carver was referee. Pakeha v. Hui Mai. In the first spoil Thompson and Roche each scored for Pakeha, that team having all the best of the pay. In the second spell play was more oven. Constablo and Hoy scored for Hui Mai, and M'Eldowney and Roche for Pakehh. Pakoha won by 4'goals to 2. Mr. G. Einpsou was referee. SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT. The sub-committee 'appointed to arrango tho soven-a-side tournament have decided that entries from any grade, with names of players, will be received up t0.5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aufttist IG, at the of-.-fico of Mr. A. A. Bennett, secretary of tho association. Tho fixtures will be drawn on August 17, and matches begin on the 19th. Should the entries warrant it, tho committee reserve the right to divide the competition into two classes, and to name tho class in which each team shall play. All games will be.played at Day's Bay, and no entrance fee is payable. The Management Committee will allot a trophy to the club whose team wins tho competition.

LADIES' MATCHES. Fixtures for Saturday:—Senior: A team v. B team, Day's Bay, 2. Junior: A team v. B team, Day's Bay, 4. The A team will wear white blouses, anil tho B team coloured blouses, in each grade.
