TAYLOR MEMORIAL FUND.

. MEETING.AT THE TOWN HALL. '.In response to a public invitation fromtho Mayor, thirteen peoplo attended a meeting which was held in th«- Mayor's loom, Town Hall, yesterday afternoon, to discuss ways and means of raising a contribution to the Taylor memorial fund. Among those present were the Rev. F. W. Isitt, the Eev. J. Dawson, Eev. W. J. Comrie, .the Rev. E.'.O. Blamires, the Rov. J. Crewes,'and Messrs. D.M'Laren, M.P., and A. Ei Atkinson..There wcro two ladies present.' Tho Mayor presided, and in opening tho proceedings explained that the meeting had been called for tho purpose of forming—or, rather,,of adding to tho committee which had been. formed to a movement for the' raising of a contribution to the Taylor memorial fund.-The gathering was an , indication: that there was still a widespread interest, in the.;movement to assist the family of a man who had given his best energies to the service' of the public. The meeting was not an occasion for speeches, but for action,''and he proposed that they should Tesolveinto committee to discuss ways and means.' Among those who had r.lready indicated their willingness to assist on the committee were the Revs.' J. Dawson and W. J.. Comrio, tho .Hon. C. M. Luke, M.L.C.; : and Messrs. D. M'Lnrcn, M;P., A. R. Atkinson, H. D. Bell, J. G . W. Aitken, W. J..Helyer, W. T.'Young, and himself. ;.':

Mr. 'M'L'aron stated that - Mr. R. A. Wright; .'M.P., had also intimated his readiness to.assist. ,■'..... .. . '

Tho Mayor went oh to'say that'.'tho Hon! 0, M. Luke had promised a donation of five guineas. (Hear, hear.) He moved that those present resolve themselves into a committee to further the object, for .which tho meeting had been convened, such committeo to have power to add to its number. ~ The motion. was carried, and the mcetinor then'went into committee.'

Tho result of the deliberations in camera were that a committee was npnointod, nnd a subscription canvass authorised. The committee is as follow.—Messrs. T. M. Wilford, M.P. (chairman). D.
