Mr. George Perkins, a director of the United States Steel Corporation, on being examined by llio Congressional Inquiry, which is investigating the affairs of the Steel Trust, refused to answer questions relating to his private contributions to political campaign funds, and also as to th? contributions made by the New York Life Insurance Company. The committee warned Mr. Perkins that lie was likely to bo imprisoned for contempt of Congress if ho persisted. Mr. Perkins thereupon asked for tame to reconsider his refusal. His request was granted.
