The headmaster (Mr. F, fc. Watson) reported that the roll number was 75'.!, with an average attendance of 671. Tho school htul now fully recovered from (he epidemic of measles, and was, in i'actj overcrowded, pupils having to be refused in several of the class rooms. / "It was decided to again call the attention of the Education Hoard to the position in this respect. The chairman and Messrs. A. E. Clausen and J. Swallow were appointed to.attend tho conference of school committees on August 2s, to consider the question or' conliiumnec classes' at the Technical School, Tho Education Hoard intimated that it had pent nine doubledesks aiuk thirty hat-racks. A circular was received from the .T. E. Taylor Memorial Fund Committee, requesting dint a fund bo started ra Ihu KCliool. Mr, Gittiiifj was appointed visitor for tho ensuing month. Mr. S. 11. Outran! was thrown from hie trap a dny or two ago and received some rather severe injuries. The Palmerston Egg Circle is now ia working order, and eggs aro to bo received at the depot as from Tliur«la,y next. The local temperance societies (ire nrrnnging to hold n church parade shortly. While on a visit to Tmhapo on Friday last, Mr. ('. Boivden, a Piilmcrslnn resident, wns thrown from a gig through t.lia horse falliiiK, nml received some- ra'uuir severe cuts a.nd bruises.
The roliring members of the committee of the Mwinwatu Racing Club are Messrs. \V. Randall. E. Wood, 1 , . A. M'Hnrdy, and Dr. O'Brien, all of whom arc eligible for re-elcclion. Mr. 1!. S. Abraham also retires as president, but will probably bo re-elected unopposed.
