BIG BUILDING SCHEME.
UP-TO-DATE MOTOR GAEAGE.
Tho forward marcli of Courtenav Placo is being accelerated by a big building scheme which is to transform he Itaiso and Hun-ell Co.'s property 111 that thoroughfare. This bin ding is prcscnl a three-story brick structure, with GBIt. fro'ita"o to Courtenay Place, by an. arrangement with tho Dunlop Company, of Australasia. it is to bo halved by a dividing wall of brick right to the roof. Eou'6 anrl Hun-ell are to retain the rround floor only on the eastern side, Sihl tho Dunlop Company are to occupy the rest of the building. At present the building only extends about half-way back at tho "ection, which runs between Courtenay Place and Yorlc Street. Tho whole of the back half of. the block is now to be covered- by a lai'ge brick building of one M'ory, 130 ft. in .depth and (18ft. in brcrdth/in addition to which there is an annexe 'aSft. by 30ft. in the middle of the block on the eastern side which is nl=o to be built over. Tho Rouse and Tlurrell half of the new structure is to be utilised as a motor garage, and it' is claimed that it will be the most up-to-date building of the kind in the Dominion. Ample'provision is to be made in the wav of lock-up stalls for motorcars. there, will he a big workshop, n lnve revolving table for turning cars within the .enrage, and wash-down nits connected wilh the dr.vnat'e system. The whole place will be brilliantly top-lighted and there will bo a straight' run-tln-nmrh from Courtenav Place to York Street. The front building will be U'od ns a show room for "Ford" cars, and offices, etc. The Dnnlon Companv is to set un a mc=t comprehensive establishment in the old and new building, and will divide its extensive floor space into show rooms, oflices. warehouse, factory, and stores (the latter having a frontage to York Street). The new building and the alterations to the existing one will cost between .£2500 and i.lfWO. The work is being carried out. bv Mr. W. H. Bennett, from tho plans of Mr. E. TV. Pctlieriek.
