MR. POOLE AND MR. MASSEY.
Sir,—Surely there/is enough troublo in tho world—l mean tho inevitablo trouble, which bofals tho lot of all of us without any assistance on our part to borrow or rake up thing's that have been satisfactorily settled. On reading Mr. Poole's speech, as reported in Wednesday's Dominion, 1 was thunderstruck at what he said in reference to Mr. Massey's withdrawal of what had passed between tho Into Mr. T. E. Taylor and himself. Mr. Ma.ssev, having made tho "amende honourable," had clone all that was in his power, and by his action has won the approval of all unbiased minds. Evidently Mr. I'oole differs from this opinion, his speech. almost seemed to imply that ho was rather sorry that Mr. Massey had taken tho steps ho had. Perhaps' Mr. Poole would like to have hold this over Mr. Massey's head for all time, like the proverbial "Sword of Damocles," which at tho first disagreement between tho two gentlemen, political or otherwise, would fall with terrible . force on Mr. Massey's head. Now, sir, wo believo that Mr. Poolo is a reader and a follower of tho good old .Book, and wo expected something very different from him. Surely he has forgotten tho golden rule: "Do unto others as ye would that they should do unto you," and the precepts which teach that if a man confess his fault lie is to bo freely forgiven. In conclusion I would suggest' that the ll<m. J!r. I'oole should refresh his (memory by reading tho Parable of the Pharisee and the Publican, as recorded in St. Luke, Chap. 18. Thanking you, sir, for your willingness in giving publicity to all opinions,—l am, etc., I'HOHIJHTIONIST.
