•» MR. EDWIN ABBEY, K.A. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyrleht London, August 1. The death is announced of Mr. Edwin Austin Abbey, li.A. The late Mr. Edwin Abbev, the wellknown historical painter, was bora at Philadelphia in 16d2, and became a student at the Pennsylvania Academv of Fine Arts. He was engaged by Messrs. Harper Brothers, the American publishers, and in 1878 went to London on their behalf. Mr. Abbey first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1890. In 1002 he was commissioned to paint the official picture of tho Coronation of King Edward.
