HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.
(From Our Special Correspondent.! TECHNICAL SCHOOL MANAGERS. THE MILITARY TRAINING. The monthly meeting of the managers of tiio I'ctone Technical School was held last evening. Present: Messrs. Thomson (chairman), Castle (secretary), Wood, itobbs, M'Kenzie, Routhgate, Hope, ana ] ondon. Tho Hutt Borough Council notified that Councillor Ball had been appointed their representative oil the board, vico Mr. Hayes, resigned. The director reported that the second step in the forma ( ion of a senior cadet corps in connection with the school, had been taken by the Defence Department. Very little consideration teemed to have been shown by those, in authority as to how they interfered with tho wording of the school. Most of tho boys had to present themselves at the llutt drilished last evening, and consequently classes had to be shut down. If more consideration were not shown Ihe attendance at-tho school would be seriously interfered with. He understood that all the bovs attend, ing tho school were to be posted to the mono Technical School Corps, and he thought that the manager should act as follows:—(1) Communicate with th« organising officer and ask that this should be done. (2) Arrange for someone in tho Defence Department to be the officer having charge of the company, and recommend that that person should have some interest in tho school in order that tho drills could be fitted with the timetable. If this were not done it was to be apprehended that drill and study would tome into conflict. The sub-commit too which had been set up to deal with a rural scheme had considered it advisable to allow the matter to stand over lor some litilo time until it is seen what i* to be done in coniirct'on" With the pr<> IK sod coursc at the District High School. It was resolved that the Defence Department be notified that the b\ird was agreeable to forming the proposed military corps, but desiivd that Mr. l.ynskey be appointed the 'officer in cliarne, On the motion of Mr. M'Kenzie it war resolved to form an induslral imiseu.'it in connection with the seh«ol, and to thank Mr. Pearson for his offer of exhibits ior tho museum.
