Major Archer-Shee has received .£7120 from the Admiralty as compensation and law costs for the dismissal of his son from tho Royal Naral College at Osborne, ' The Archer-Shee case, which aroused a great deal of public interest last year, was revived in tho House of Commons on March 16 by a question' asked by Mr. G. Cave. Unionist member for Kingston. In July of last year Major Archer-felioe, who is dow Unionist member for Finsbury, sought a public ■ hearing of the charge which led to the dismissal of his son from the Royal'-'Naval College, Osborne. The boy was alleged to have forged a signature to a-postal, noto and then cashed tho note. The v Admiralty opposed a public hearing of the case, but Major Archer-Shee took tho matter to the' Appeal Court. Evidence relating to the charge was called, but the case had not_ proceeded far when counsel for the Admiralty admitted that the boy was innocent. Mr. M'Kenna, in reply to Mr. Cave, said that the Admiralty, had offered to pay the plaintiff's costs,-but this, offer had been declined. The sum of £10,000 was claimed, but the Admiralty declined to pay...Subsequently Mr. M'Kenna (First Lord of the Admiralty) expressed unqualified regard for what had occurred, and filially agreed,that.Lord Mersey bo appointed'to fix the amount of. compensation to be paid, and also tho law costs. i
