PLUMBERS' REGISTRATION.
A BILL PROMISED. A deputation representing the Plumbers' Federation of New Zealand waited upon the Hon. D. Buddo (Minister for Internal Affairs) last evening to ask him to bring a Plumbers' Registration Bill before Parliament during the present session, and, if possible, have it passed into law. Mr. W. E. Williams (president of the Plumbers' Federation) stated that the I members-of the deputation represented Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Duncdin, and Timarn. A Dominion Conferenco of Plumbers had been held in Wellington at Easter, and, as an outcomo of its deliberations, a Bill had been drafted which the plumbers hoped would be adopted by tho Government. The speaker understood that it differed in no essential particular from a Bill which had figured on the Order Paper of the. House during the previous session. As showing the disabilities under which plumbers laboured at present, Mr. Williams stated that it might cost a plumber who worked in different districts as much as .£25 a vear for licenso fees. Tho Minister slated that, the draft Bill submitted by tho federation did uot specify tho work that a plumber granted a license should bo capable of undertaking. This was tho stumbling block in regard to the Bill. A plumber employed in the countrv might not be qualiiied to efficiently carry out some of the work douo in cities. ■Usweriii'? this objection, Mr. Williams stated that the deputation considered that licenses should bo granted only to fully qualified plumbers. The Minister declared himself wtisfifd with this assurance, and staled that ho would undertake to submit the matter to the Government for consideration, before putting the draft Bill before tho Bouse. . ■
