PALMERSTON DAY BY DAY.
(From Our Special Correspondent.) Palmerston N,, August 1. Arrangements am well forward for the Territorial camp of instruction which is to bo held on the Palmerston Show Grounds, commencing next Saturday. There will be considerably over two hunIrcd officers m camp. Vital statistics for the month of July in Palmerston were;— Births, 31; deaths, IB;_ marriages, 13. Violent behaviour in a railway carriage cost a man named Reginald Wright £3 is. 6d. for hues, witnesses' expenses, etc., in the Police Court. Court Man.iwatu, A.0.F., held its ordinary meeting last night, when there was a good ■ attendance, C.P., Bro. I). Weir, occupying the chair. The weedwards reported.that several members were on the sick fuuds. P.G.K., Bra. Kosanowski was presented with a framed emblem, and a. neck ribbon in recognition of his services to the Court, whilst P.C.R. Hro. J. Aitchison, who had been treasurer of the Court for a number of vcars, was presented with a. silver fruit'stand in appreciation of his services. Two visiting members gave addresses, dealing with Blatters affecting the Order. Mr. Dugald M'Dowell, who has been foreman at Messrs. Trevor and Son's brickworks for a considerable time, was yesterday the recipient of a presentation Irom his fellow employees. Mr. M'Dowell, who was a prominent member of the local Caledonian Society-, is about to engage in farming pursuits in the Waikalo. Of; the two hundred recruits in the Territorials who have so far been medically examined here, onlv seven have been rejected as physically- unlit.
