MASTERTON A. &. P. ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the members of I'lio Masterton A. and P. Association was held in Murray's liall on Saturday, about tasty being present, 'l'lie chair was occupied by tlio retiring president (Mr. W. i'oi'ry). An apology for absence was received from Mr. \V . E. Bidwill, who congratulated the committcc upon the, succcss which had attended its etl'orte during tho year. Apologies were also received from Messrs. C. P. Yallance and A. G. l'ilmer. A letter was read from Mr. D. 11. Rait, M.K.C.V.S., offering to give a lecture under tho auspices of liio association.—The offer was accepted. Tho report and "balance-sneet were taken as tend. In moving t'he adoption of the report Mr. W. l'erry stated that the figures had looked forward lo with suiue interest. It seemed undoubted now that tho association had made a wise move in effecting a change. The visil'ing exhibitors had expressed themselves highly pleased with tho appointments on the ground. The railway arrangements were highly spoken of. Tho incoming committee would requiro to make same belter accommodation for exhibitors on t'he ground. Tils' raihvay authorities had met the association in a splendid manner OTer Lie railway siding. The waterraces and high-pressure water supply had proved a great convenience, and the sheep ring was much appreciated. There was, of course, a disadvantage in having an overdraft. This , now amounted to It was hoped, however, that steps would bo taken in tho autumn to reduce lliis amount. It' was very gratifying that they had a credit-balance on tho year's «oi lung of X 290, and this in face of tho tact that the expenses were higher than l A S "? 1, I ? kc . n : "'together they could feel that' the position in regard to their new grounds was very satisfactory. The ram lair had been one of tho most, successful held in the Dominion. Tho.prices obtained had been exceptional. Tile membership of the association had increased during the year V llu, and now stood at 853. It 'was hoped that during the year they would reach the 1000 mark. Mr. W. Perry commented upon tho fact' that during tho year freezing works had been established ill the H airarapa. The promoters were .deserving ot the warmest thanks for the success which had attended their efforts. (Applause.) A. Producers' Association had been formed in t'he Dominion during the vear, and a representative had been sent Home iji Mr. Shelton. He thought tne association was deserving of support A shipment of chilled beef had been made during the year and this had arrived in good condition. Tho export of chilled beet was calculated to increase the prico 01 cnttlc. An ctlort had been made during the year to open Continental markets to colonial produce. The barrier had been partially broken down, and it was hoped that new markets would be found. Ihe farmers of. tho Dominion, on the whole, had had a satisfactory season, and prices fairly good. Experiments in w near-growing had been carried out under the auspices of Mr. Bayliss, of the Agricultural Department, and had proved of interest. In conclusion, Mr. Perry thanked the committcc for the harmonious manner in which they had worked durIHh yoar : P ait l a special tribute to he secretary (Mr. G. E. M'Gregor, sen.,' in seconding tho motion, paid, a warm tribute to the -■retiring committee,; .and. particularly to Messrs. T,\. Perry, W. .T. Welch, and D. Al trregor, jim., who had practically lived lor months on the Solwa.v grounds. The committee was deserving of the greatest thanks for haying brought the show lo so successful an issue. (Applause.) The motion 1 for the adoption of the report was carried unanimously amid applause.
