GATHERING IN LONDON. ' Us Telegraph—Press Association-Conyrlcbt London, July 27. The Universal Races Congress has opened in tho London University. Lord Weardalo presided. Fifty branches of tho human race and twenty-two Governments are officially represented. Many'interesting papers were discussed. Tho object of the confjrofs is to discuss, in the light of modern knowledge and tho modern conscience, Hie grneral relations subsisting between the luoples of the West and those- of tho 13nst. between socallcd white and so-callfd coloured peoples, with a view to onccuragin!; between them a fuller understanding, tho most friendly feelings, and a heartier co-opera-tion.
