Arrived.—Mararoa (9.35 a.m.), from We'lington; Tarawera (11 a.m.), from Wellington. RUAHIKE ARRIVES. Shortly after midnight the New Zealand Shipping Company's R.M.S. Rnahinc arrived in the stream at Wellington from London, via way ports. The vessel berths at the King's Wharf this morning, and is expected to be alongside about 9 a.m. MOANA'S ROUGH PASSAGE. At 8.25 last evening' the"Union Company's steamer Moana arrived at Wellington from Sydney direct, and dropped anchor in the stream. -Notwithstanding the lateness of the hour, Dr. Pollen (Port Health Officer) went out and passed the vessel, and she berthed at the Queen's Wharf No. 1 south at 9.45 p.m. Th run across from Sydney has been a> particularly trying one both for the ship's company and passengers alike, and, to make matters worse, the vessel took a considerable list, to port on the wav over, w mg, it is said, to the "weather 1 ' being all on the one side. She left Sydnev at I.IS p.m. on Saturday last, and cleared the Heads at 2 p.m. As soon as she got. outside, she ran into a strong south-east gale, accompanied by heavy • head and beam seas, with thick squally weather. These conditiona lasted until Fenearrow light was picked up. Captain Worrall states that, in all his experience, he has never seen the weather come away from the same quarter so heavily persistently as on the present run across the Tasmau Sea. Imports by the vessel arc as follow :~126 bars electro-copper, 575 bags ochre, 899 sacks pollard, 3EO boxes lard, 4CO bags salt, 371 drums carbide, 480 bags rice. 1531 cases fruit, also a quantity of sundries. . Transhipments ex the following vessels also came to hand:-Coblcur. Aldcnhaw, Moldavia, Otw.iy, Itzehoe, Villc do ,La Cistat, Australic, Goslar, Hanon, Kiel, Boon, Lothringcn, Dilkcra, Orvicto. In continuation of her running the Moana loaves Wellington for southern porte, Hobart, and Melbourne at 5 p.m. today.
AOHAXGI FOE 'FIIISCO. In consequence of the. Moana's laic arrival at Wellington !a,st evening ihb Aorangi'a departure for Han Francisco, via. way part.;, was considerably delayed, and 6hedid not leave port until shortly before midnight. Some passengers, ex Jloana. joined the vessel, and a small quantity of cargo was also taken. The Aorangi leaves Auckland on Saturday • next, Rarotoii"a August 3, Papeete August 6, and is scheduled to arrive at her destination on August 18. TONGARIRO FURTHER DELAYED. A further delay has taken place in regard to R.M.S. Tongariro's departure from Wellington for London, via way ports She will not leave port until daybreak on Sunday. OBAEI'S OFFICERS. Captain E. T. Smith, lato of the Rimu--laka, is in charge of the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Orari, which arrived at Duncdin from London recently after a. passage of «4 days. Captain Firsdich, late master of the vessel, remained at Home this trip to tuke charge of the company's new steamer llurunui that ii being built at Russell's, Port Glasgow. The other officers on the Orari arc as follow :—Mr. G. K. Worthington, chief; Mr W. E. Point (late Ruahinel, second; Mr. H E. Martin, third; Mr. H. Wood, fourth; Messrs. F. Goodman, G. Thomas, and il. Harris, midshipmen; Dr. R. .Johnson, surgjon. Mr. R. W. Sneddon is chief engineer, and his assistants are Messrs. P. H Wilson, A. Mieback, A. G. Fordham. li'. W. Billet',, and W. Uilhert as second third, fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively' Mr. J. H. Clark is chief and Mr. J. Jordan second of the refrigerating department. Mr. J. Machins is steward-in-chief.
To-day the F.-H.-S. steamer Nairnshire leaves Dunedin for the Bluff, where dischargo of Home cargo will be completed. Tho vessel then commences loading, and subsequently visits Timarn. Lyltelton. Wanganui and Wellington, being due here on August 11. The Nairnshire leaves port, again on August 15 for Auckland, and leaves the northern port for AvonmoiKh finally on August 1?, not August, 24 as scheduled.
