HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.

(From Our Special Correspondent.) $ Last night, at St. Augustine's Hall, Petone, a delightful little private dance was held. The promoters were the Misses Colquhoun, Johnson, Mcore, and Cochrane, and there were about CO guests present. Quite a number of pretty drosses were worn, the prevailing colour being white. Supper was served in the commodions rooms at the rear of tho dancing hall, tho tables being tastefully decorated with narcissus, palms, aud early spring flowers.

At a meeting of the Hutt branch of St.. John's Ambulance Brigade, held at tho Fire Station, Lower Hutt, last evening, the following officers wevo elected for the ensuing year:—First officer, T. Vs. Slinnj inspector of stores, E. Hobman; lion, seiretary and treasurer, 11. Baldwin.' It was decided to hold practices on the second Friday in each month, at the. station rooms.
