Nearly eight years ago, in December, 10C3, Mr. Louis Brennan, the inventor of tho torpedo which bears his name, patented the gyroscope mono-rail, and on May 8, 1007, he demonstrated to the Royal Society with a beautiful working model that he had invented a self-balancing train. For a long time he has been busy working at his home at Gillingham, in Kent, and in the Government grounds at Now Brompton, close by. Last year ho transformed the tiny working model, which could only carry a single small passenger, into-a great, engine, weighing 22 tons, which can carry half a hundred passengers safely at express speed.
