FIRE AT WANGANUI.
(By TolcsraD'a—Prefo Association,) Wanganul, July 21, An outbreak of fire occurred this evening in the block known as Morton's Buildings. The lire originated in a leanto at the rear of Mr. Arthur Gregson's grocery shop. With the exception of the lean-to and shed, no great damage was done to the main two stories of the building, but the stock of the grocer's shop was considerably damaged bv water. The building belongs to Dr. Eario. Mr. Gregson's stock is insured in tho Sun Office for .£'looo, and Kice's premises in the same office for .£3OO. The fire originated in a built-in copper where hams were being boiled. Everything was safe at 8 p.m., but the premises were in flames before 11.30.
Making a rough landing at Horsham, Surrey, after a balloon voyage from the Alexandra Palace, on the Northern Heights of London, Captain E. M. Maitland and Mr. A. do Mowbray Bellairs were forced to spend the night in tho balloon's basket, which had become fixed in a tree. The gasbag was badly punctured.
