ARBITRATION TREATY DESIRED.

implying that the Anglo-American arbitration treaty had been concluded, it was believed that this had been without renewal of the Anglo-Jupanose Alliance, and there was thus strong disapproval of the treaty.
The leading journals and prominent publicists now express satisfaction at tho extension of the area of tho Pacific zone, ,jtnd declare that, Japan desires an arbitration treaty with the United -States, inasmuch as an armed conflict was unthinkable.
