STRATFOKD MARKET IIEI'OET. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Stratford branch) reiiort: -We hold a clearing sale at Mr. J. H. Corbett's on the Kast Road on Holiday last, when there was a large attendance, ineluding a number of ladies. There was very keen competition for the cows, some of which were very nice indeed, and prices ranged from lffls. to 3505., the herd, including cows in milk and store cows, making an average of 183s. A pedierco bull was sold to a local buyer at 25gns.. and Zlycnr-olil heifers in calf realised from 9Cs. to 1505.,- and a very nice line of yearling heifers made an average of 71s. Pign made up to 215.. pedigree sows in pig. from ICCs. to 117s. £d.; 1 mare, £10, and another at .€7 55.. Sundries were offered, including milk Kins, realising 13s. to 215.; Donald jack, 335.; drawing-room suite, 865., the piano'being passed in at 35gus.: citr. £12; dray, £10; harness. £7; hay rake. 82s. 6d.; grass mower. £3; disc harrows. £5: S.F. plough, £0: chain harrows, 555.; fowls realised from 2s. to 2s. Gd. each. We held our fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards on Tuesday, when we yarded 379 head of cattle and 919 sheep, the greater portion of which were sold either at the hammer or afterwards at the following prices :-Weanera, noor and weedy. 165.; fair and medium, 255.; good up to 38s. A nice lino of wcajicr heifers, Ho'.steins, made up to 445. Eigh-teen-month steers were in better demand, and realised 675. 6d.; empty cows, lowcondition. 665. to 745.;" fat cow«. ".medium weights, '85s. to 1155.; store cows. EOs. to 725.; dairy cows, 80s. for an inferior line.j to 1575. 6d. for good. Two and a half to three-year-old heifers in calf were keenly competed for, and realised 97". 6d. to 1265.; empty heifers, medium Quality. 68s. to 79=.; bulls from 40s. to 70s. We submitted for auctim, on account of Mr. E. C. Barleyman, Tututawa, who has so'd his farm, 23 dairy cows and 880 ew;es. The latter looked very well, but were in slightly low condition, and tho prices otfered were rather disappointing. However, as Mr. Barleyman had no place to put them in, they were sold without reserve, the ewes realising from ss. 3d., for cul!=. to 10s. 7d. for-up to full-mouth ewes. His dairy herd of very nice quality wore slightly low in condition, but were keenly competed for by sundry buyers, and made from 110s. to 2455., making tho fair average of 160s. During the week we sold several dairy herds privately, one line of 22 (near Neaire). at 1705., and another linn of 59 (near Eltliam), at an average, of 180s.; also, rising 3-ycai> old heifers, af 1505., and a very nice line of 10 yearlings Jersey-Holstcin cross.', on accout of tho. same owner at 60s.
UNRESERVED HOLSTEIN SALE. The auctioneers wish to draw the special attention of dairy farmers and fanciers of Holstein Friesian--. cattle to the unreserved rale .which is ' being held on account of Mr. Charles Jlopping 'at his homestead, Gloil Oroiia. on -Wednesday, July 26. The 64 high-Rrado HoMein dairy cows to be offered arc young and include a laree number of August calvcr's. The cows aro in excellent order, calving dates will b= Ruaranteed, and they will be sold without reserve. The 6 grade Holsteiu heifers in milk, which have lately been imported from Syduey, will be submitted to auction, subject to a sliuht reserve.' Tlio nodipree ■bulls, which will also bo offered (subject to a slight. reserve, include several bred by the vendor, and others bred by Messrs. \\. I. Lovelock, Newton KiaK, and the Slate larm, Levin.
