At a committee meeting of the Taranaki Agricultural Society it iwas decided to recommend tho society that, a building for winter show and other purpo-es be erected on St. Germain's Square^.providing satisfactory arrangements can.be made to lease tho building, and that the, matter of finance can bo arranged. Tho society's Winter Shows so far have been held in a liired building. The mortality,amongst hoggets in this district (says a iCopnarunga correspondent) has so far been exceptionally small, and it is not anticipated by/owners that tho death rate will be anything like it has beon. in previous years. There is, however, the most trying time yet to be faced. August and September may .be.said to be ..the, most disastrous, mouths.
