BOXING.
MR, M'INTOSH AND "DAVE" SMITH. On Monday last "Dave" Smith, the wellknown champion middle-weight boxer who is at present in Wellington, cabled' to Mr H. D. M'lntosh, the great boxing promoter in London, asking what guarantee the impresario was prepared to offer him for three contests-with Papke, Sullivan, and Marcel Morcau, the French champion. Yesterday Smith informed Mercury, our boxing contributor, that tho following reply had just como to hand:—"Returning Australia immediately; will confer personally with you on arrival. (Signed) M'lntosh." Smith leaves for Sydney next week to meet Mr. M'lntosh.
