The annual mooting of members of th» Terrace End Bowling Club was held at tho club's pavilion Inst night, when there was a good attendance, and the president, Mr. R. Gardner, occupied the chair. The balance-sheet showed receipts as .£339 13s. 3d., expenditure JC3OG ss. Id. assets, .£1322 3s. sd. liabilities, .£923 9s. lOd. Officers for tho ensuing year wero elected as follow i—President, Mr. C. F. Spooner; vicopresidents, Messrs. A. Turner, R. 11. Solicit, and W. Adams; general committee, Messrs. B. Martin, N. Sinclair, F. Sollett, J. Harris, W. E. Jones; treasurer. Mr. W. Mundy; secretary, Mr. C. Suteliffo; auditors, Messrs. R. Gardner, and N. Sinclair; green committee, Messrs. A. Turner, J. Harris, W. Adams and J. Everett. A bonus of £h was voted to the secretary, Mr. C. Sutciiffo for his services during the past year. A number of new members were electod. The new gymnasium building in connection with St. Andrew's Bible Class was opened last evening in the presence of a largo gathering. The Kev. A. Doull, of St. Andrew's, performed the opening ceremony, and addresses wero given to tho Mayor and Mr. T). AY. Low. A salo of work and "social" followed. The local telephone system is to bo brought up-to-date by the installation of the metallic circuits. Tho Manawatu Boxing Association is making' arrangements with several wellknown boxing men;to visit Palmcrston at an carlv date. It is also endeavouring to secure 'a visit from several Australian At tho annual dinner of the Palmcrston Fire Brigade last night, decorations and awards were presented to tho following members bv tho Minister for Internal Affairs:—Senior Fireman, J. Nelson; twoyears' bar, making twenty-three years' service; Fireman R. Rush, two-years' bar, nino years' service; Fireman F. W. Pettell ; tivo-vears' bar, fifteen years' service; Fireman A. Mortland. medal, five years* service; Fireman C. Emmett, certificate, thrco vcare' service. The Palmcrston Football Club held its annual ball at the Municipal' Hall last night. The hall was nicely decorated, and there was a largo attendance, the function provine very enjoyable. Miss C. Eraser, T. Stubbs. nnd G. Torlonson were most 'efficient M.C.'s.
